IUPUI is Indiana's premier urban research university. The campus enrolls more than 30,000 students in 21 schools and academic units.
The IUPUI Honors College actively supports a number of Honorary Societies which recognize academic achievement and service accomplishments. These Honorary societies provide opportunities for development of service-based leadership skills and offer a forum for engagement in our urban environment. Friendships formed in these honorary societies span lifetimes.
Alpha Sigma Lambda Zeta Chi Chapter at IUPUI is the premier national honor society for non-traditional students. Alpha Sigma Lambda's aim is to recognize the special achievements of adults who accomplish academic excellence while facing competing interests of home and work. Alpha Sigma Lambda provides an association for and recognition of academically outstanding students in continuing higher education. Through leadership born of effort, both scholastically and fraternally, Alpha Sigma Lambda inspires its candidates to give of their strengths to their fellow students and communities through their academic achievements.
Alpha Lambda Delta is a national honor society for first year students. Alpha Lambda Delta recognizes those students who have succeeded in maintaining a 3.5 or higher GPA, and are in the top 20% of their class, in their first year. Alpha Lambda Delta's mission is to "encourage superior academic achievement... to promote intelligent living and a continued high standard of learning, and to assist students in recognizing and developing meaningful goals for their unique roles in society." IUPUI chapter members have attended national leadership workshops and conventions and received national scholarships. Alpha Lambda Delta has a strong commitment to service.
Phi Eta Sigma recognizes students for first year scholarship and academic excellence. An important dimension of Phi Eta Sigma membership is the opportunity for service and leadership on campuses and in communities across the country. IUPUI's chapter is known for its community service through efforts supporting the United Way Day of Caring and participation in the Riley Children's Hospital Dance-A-Thon.
