Make a Difference
The IUPUI Honors Scholar experience begins in the classroom but does not end there. IUPUI challenges our Honors Scholars to make a difference. Attending college at a leading urban research university opens a world of opportunities to our students to gain the skills and experiences that will prepare them to make an impact:
Conducting research with our world-class faculty offers Honors Scholars opportunities to create and apply knowledge in their fields of study. Programs like the IUPUI Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) provide opportunities for funded summer research with a faculty member, as well as opportunities to publish and present research results professional meetings.
Internships provide real world opportunities to test your career choices as well as gain valuable experience in your field. IUPUI offers academic credit for internships with government agencies, non-profit organizations, and businesses. IUPUI Internship Coordinators can help you find the best experience through your major if you are seeking academic credit.
Scholars in the IUPUI Honors College are prepared to contribute to today's global society. Study abroad through the IUPUI Office of International Affairs offers students over 40 international programs ranging from a few weeks to an entire academic year in length.
Honors Scholars make a difference through service to their community, the state, and the nation. The IUPUI Center for Service and Learning coordinates nationally recognized service opportunities for student service organizations, service learning courses, and programs in Indianapolis, the nation, and abroad.
Honors Scholars learn to lead and enhance leadership skills through service-based leadership, leadership courses, and leadership programs such as Lead IUPUI. Leadership opportunities exist at IUPUI through the IUPUI Honors College, Undergraduate Student Government and over 300 student organizations.
